 "The title 'Surface Tension' contains many musical and aural images — the melody rising through a texture, one melody becoming dominant over another, as in a crowded room where conversations surface only to be superseded by others rising to the foreground.
 The composition is for two violins and digital tape. The musicians also sing and play percussion, possibly using some of Joanna Mowbray's metal sculptures. The source material for the tape will be generated from sounds made on sculptures in her studio."
